Sadly, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to offer our usual transition arrangements this year. Moving to secondary school is an exciting time, but it can also be nerve-wracking for both students and parents. In light of this we have compiled a range of experiences for Y6 students and parents/carers on this page, to give you a flavour of life at BAA.
Please explore our on-line transition, and if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the academy via firstname.lastname@example.org and your query will be directed to the most appropriate staff member.
You should have received this letter regarding Year 7 transition. If you have not received this letter, please click the link below to access this information and email our admin team email@example.com if you have any queries.

Meet the Tutors
Hi. My name is Mr Rodriguez and I am a Religious Studies teacher. I have been working at Bluecoat for over a year now but have been teaching for 12 years. I was born in Barcelona (Spain). Yes, I am a football supporter of probably the best football team in the world, FC Barcelona! I hope to see you all very soon.
Mr Iqbal- 7AF
Hi Year 7’s and welcome to Bluecoat Aspley Academy! I am Mr Iqbal and I am a Drama and English teacher at the Aspley campus. I’m sure you’re all feeling a mix of emotions – nervousness and excitement at the moment and that’s perfectly fine! Just know everything will be alright when you reach us in the end and I look forward to meeting you all in September! Until then be safe and look after yourselves.
Mrs Thompson- 7AH
Welcome to Bluecoat Aspley Year 7! I hope you are all safe and well. My name is Mrs Thompson and I teach Computer Science. I have been a teacher for 9 years now and I love it! I really love working with computers and different kinds of technology and teaching my students all there is to know about them. My main role for you is helping and guiding you through your time at Bluecoat with whatever concerns, troubles or questions you may have and also celebrating all of your successes with you. I’m really looking forward to meeting each and every one of you and getting to know all the wonderful things about you.
Mrs Reilly- 7AH
Welcome to Bluecoat, Year 7! My name is Mrs Reilly and I have worked at Bluecoat for seven years as a very passionate teacher of English. I love English for many reasons, but particularly as it allows me to teach students all about the power of language – the greatest tool we could ever have! My favourite part of being an English teacher is the gift of sharing the experience of reading with my classes, so I can’t wait to hear how you all feel about reading too. I know that moving from primary to secondary school is a huge step and this year is harder than ever, but I am so looking forward to welcoming you to our lovely school and supporting you to succeed. I am very excited to be a Year 7 form tutor and I can’t wait to meet you all!

Miss Griffiths and Mrs Williams- 7AR

Welcome to Bluecoat Aspley. I am Mr Fairbrother and I am really looking forward to meet you all in person, getting to know you and being there for you as your Tutor. As well as being your form tutor, I also teach Computer Science. In case you are worried at all about the change of school, don’t be! We’re going to get on brilliantly and have a great time next year. There will be opportunities for you to learn, try out new things and talk about a lot of ideas together. Until we meet, Stay safe!
