Our Vision and Values
Mission: Believe in yourself, in others, in God
Equipping our students with the confidence to ‘believe’ is extremely important to us. Belief inspires hope. It is our hope that lives are transformed through being a part of our worshipping family.
Vision: Through believing in ourselves, in others, in God, we aspire to live out our Christian values of faith, hope, family and respect.
We are a Church of England Academy and our mission is to create a distinctive educational community for all based upon Christian faith and values. Our ethos is based on our mission statement ‘believe; in yourself, in others, in God.’ This is grounded in the key principle from the Bible to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind and love your neighbour as yourself” (Luke 10:27).
We believe that every student is wonderfully unique and valued by God. This is critical to the relationships and personal approach to the curriculum that we take with every young person. We aim to develop confident students who have a strong sense of justice and integrity. We encourage students to develop belief in themselves in order to be the best that they can be. Our students are resilient, they can work independently and have a good understanding of where they have come from and who they are. We want our students to never lose hope, as they aspire to be the best version of themselves.
We encourage all to value, care and respect each other. This is reflected in the harmonious family that makes up Bluecoat Aspley. Students feel part of a local, national and global community, believing in others and working together towards a common purpose. Students develop into respectful, supportive and considerate citizens who are passionate about making a difference and keen to advocate for those less fortunate.
We want every person in our family to excel academically and strive for success. However, this goes hand in hand with wanting each person to flourish spiritually. Believing in God is the foundation of our academy. It is what led Revd. Timothy Fenton to start this educational journey over 300 years ago. As such, we continue to live out our foundation as a Church of England school, helping all to reach for life in all of its fullness. It is of utmost important to us that we keep each young person at the heart of everything that we do. Our aim is to grow the whole person: spiritually, morally, culturally and socially, whilst also helping them to achieve academic success, opening doors to their future ambitions.
We live out this vision through our values:
Faith: Can move mountains (Matt 17:20)
Hope: Can ignite future success (Jer 29:11)
Family: Can love as God loves (1 Cor 13:4-7)
Respect: Can set an example to the world (Tit 2:7)
