How to make the most of your revision
The Revision Clock
Stage 1: Review
When you are reviewing a topic area, this should take a quarter of the time you have allocated to revise e.g. if you are revising for 1 hour then 15 minutes review is fine. See the techniques on the next page that are shown by research to be the most effective.
Stage 2: Practice
This is the time when you should practice exam questions to check if you can apply the material you have reviewed.
This should take up half the time allocated to revision; in 1 hour it would be 30 minutes practice.
Stage 3: Check
This is when you mark the questions and see which areas you are good at and which you need more time on.
