Bluecoat Aspley Academy celebrate students’ creativity and supports their ability to express themselves with freedom to make their own artistic choices.
Our Light Night exhibition 2025 Art Matters represents how we seek to give young people a voice through the creation of art. We believe their growth as individuals can be developed through their creative practice and can be a vital way in which young people learn about themselves and the world around them. Our students are very alert to the influences of societal expectations around gender, heritage and family and many of these pieces represent the challenges they can face. The process of creating visual art allows our students to build resilience through self-expression; the exploration of new media, processes and techniques, it also requires students to evaluate and continually review, modify and improve their work as it develops.
In all we do, we aspire to be inclusive, living by our values of faith, hope, family and respect. Bluecoat Aspley Academy is a Gold Artsmark School, supporting the health and wellbeing of pupils with arts, culture and creativity and a School of Sanctuary committed to creating a culture of belonging for refugees and people seeking asylum.
We are delighted to be able to showcase our students’ artwork for the third year running as part of Nottingham Light Night 2025- come and see our digital exhibition at Sneinton Market this year!
